We Shouldn't Have Eaten That
Unleash Your World!
So we’re sitting here on a beautiful beach in Baja California, Mexico. By day, the water is a sapphire blue. By night, the sunsets make you weep. And on this fine day …
We’re competing for the tiny toilet in our bus. 💩

It Finally Happened …
I woke up this morning to … tummy issues. I’ll spare you the details. Nikki woke up a few hours later with nausea and cramping. “Oh shit”, I thought.
We have no idea what happened. For the past few days, we’ve done all of our cooking in the bus. Nothing from outside. Our water supply is ours, and is the one we’ve been using since we came to Baja. The food was cooked well (in fact, last night was pasta and sausage, purchased from Walmart). There is no reason for … one sec … I’ll be right back.

Are you tired of your normal 9-5 suburban existence? Do you dream of living on the open road, becoming an expat, or just traveling wherever your heart wants to wander? Then have we got a FOUR STEP PROGRAM for you!
Sorry about that. I couldn’t wait any longer. And I’ll not share the details of how our Lowes Five Gallon Bucket Composting Toilet handles things. Nope, I’m not going to share those details. 😀
I honestly have no idea how bad this is going to get, or if I’ll even be alive when the newsletter goes out. (Sorry, you know how we men are when we’re sick). So let’s try and focus on happier things.
"The HARDEST DECISION I've Ever Had to Make on a MOUNTAIN" (ft Natasha Bergen)
So there’s this YouTuber named Natasha Bergen. She does quasi-travel videos, at least they’re set in distant and exotic locations. Her current quest is to hike the highest peaks in every European country, and I think she’s up to number 16 or 17 now. She calls the series “Just The Tip”. 😆
She graciously agreed to do an episode of Reflections with me, telling her tale of when she climbed Mount Olympus in Greece. It was a completely compelling tale and I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to share her story.
Please go give her a watch!
Home Is Starting To Crumble
Tomorrow we’re supposed to be picking up stakes here at Playa El Tecolote and heading down to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. There to regroup, re-provision, and to try and find some craftsmen.
Nothing major and mechanical with the bus itself (crossing things), but with the inside. When we built this bus out two years ago, we had no idea what we needed … or what we were doing. And it shows.
Our living area simply isn’t serving us. The kitchen is clunky. And we have no air conditioning. Summer is coming and we suffered last year. So we’re going to try and take a quick break from exploring Baja, and get some things in order.
Assuming, of course, that we even make it off the toilet and get to La Paz. LOL!
I would expand on this a little more … and believe me, I feel bad for such a short newsletter … but misery waits for no one. The “Let’s Fix The Huckleberry” video should be out before the next newsletter, so keep an eye peeled.
Thanks for supporting the channel … and whatever you do, stay away from the local water.

Do you have a story that you’d like to tell on our Reflections Podcast? What, you didn’t know we had a podcast?
Reflections is a video podcast, simultaneously broadcast on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and many other outlets. Each episode showcases a storyteller who share tales from their own lives. Successes, failures, lessons learned. Travel, humor, and real life.
And we’d like to feature YOU as a storyteller!
What type of story are we looking for?
Just about anything that personally changed your trajectory or outlook on life. An illness you overcame. A tragic or toxic situation. Something that you tried and failed repeatedly until you finally pushed through.
This newsletter is a production of Mastering The Second Half LLC and supports the work we do on our YouTube Channel, our Podcast, and our Learning Academy. For more information, please visit rickhiggins.com.
